Hi, I’m Andrea, and I’ve been in the dental supply game for over 25 years. In that time, I’ve seen huge changes, from pen and paper order-taking with a flood of sales reps to time-saving online ordering. I’ve witnessed the move from paperback appointment books to online practice management systems and now virtual consultations. I’ve watched the industry shift from amalgam to composites, while CEREC technology has revolutionized restorative dentistry by enabling same-day crowns. Digital X-rays have replaced traditional film, and 3D scanning has become the norm. Implants, too, have come a long way—thanks to advances in materials and surgical techniques, they’re now faster, more reliable, and accessible, with options for patients with limited bone density. With newer innovations like 3D printing and the use of AI, I’m excited to see what the next big thing in dental care will be!

Who has been a major influence in your career and why?
I can’t name just one—I’ve had a whole cast of influences. From managers who mastered the art of being organised and making teamwork look effortless, to colleagues who showed me that a tidy desk and clear communication can actually move mountains. Family businesses taught me the hustle, while larger corporations showed me how planning and structure can take you places. I’ve learned a little from everyone, even if it was what not to do!

What hobby or activity do you enjoy outside of work, and how did you get into it?
Outside of work, I’m all about quality time with my dogs and escaping to my beach house with my husband and pets to get away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. I’m also a big fan of 4W driving and camping—because why not throw in a little dirt and adventure to keep life interesting?

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I’ve done my fair share of exploring around Australia, New Zealand, and been lucky enough to travel to Europe and some of Asia, but a South African Safari and the Galápagos Islands are next on my list. With my love of photography and animals, these places are a dream come true—wildlife, incredible landscapes, and perfect photo ops.

What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?
After a hectic day, you’ll find me bingeing Netflix with my two Jack Russell’s curled up on my lap—because nothing says “relax” like a dog pile and a good show. And when it comes to food? I’m always up for something new—whether it’s takeout or dining out. Bring on the flavour, I’m all about trying new things.

What’s one piece of advice you would give your younger self?
I’d tell my younger self to stop stressing over the little things. Trust the journey, because everything—even the bumps—helps shape who you are. And, spoiler alert, it’s the small stuff that ends up teaching you the big lessons.
