Director – CreativeCoachingConcepts

I began my journey in dentistry with a strong interest in combining technical excellence with tangible outcomes that positively impact people’s lives. After graduating from the University of Glasgow in 2000, I entered private practice immediately. Within four years, I opened SmileConcepts—our flagship clinic based in the heart of Sydney.

SmileConcepts has grown into a 4-chair multidisciplinary practice focused on delivering high-quality cosmetic and general dentistry, with special interest in implants and aligners. Alongside clinical work, I became deeply committed to understanding what makes a dental practice not just run—but thrive. That curiosity led me to explore leadership, team culture, marketing, and systems that drive consistent growth and world-class patient care.

Today, I’m proud to be recognised as a leading authority in dental business growth, helping fellow dentists scale, increase profitability, and enhance patient impact. With over two decades of experience, I now mentor practice owners across Australia and beyond—blending clinical expertise with proven high-performance business strategies.

I’m also a No.1 Amazon best-selling author and an international speaker, known for delivering fast-paced, high-impact seminars packed with actionable tools and insights. Whether on stage, in a boardroom, or inside the clinic, my mission remains the same: to empower dentists to grow successful practices, deliver exceptional care, and design a life and business they truly love.

If you could describe your journey with us using a movie title, what would it be and why?

The Pursuit of Growth – Because that’s exactly what the Dental Innovations community represents for me.

It’s been a journey of ongoing learning, levelling up, and surrounding myself with peers who genuinely want to support, share, and succeed together.

Growth here feels collaborative, not competitive—and that’s rare.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received that you still carry with you today?

The best advice I’ve ever received—and one I live by—is: “You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”

This quote changed everything for me. I used to set big goals, but without the right systems, progress was inconsistent. Once I realised that success relies more on structure than motivation, I became obsessed with building systems—whether for onboarding, patient experience, KPIs, or even time management.

It taught me that consistency beats intensity. You don’t need to be perfect—you just need a process that supports progress.

Now, whether I’m coaching a dentist, growing my team, or tackling new goals, I always ask: “Is it a goal problem—or a system problem?”

That shift alone has fast-tracked results for myself and those I mentor.

What do you think the future of the industry looks like for the next generation?

The future of dentistry is digital, personalised, and patient-experience driven.

Technology like AI, 3D printing, and virtual consultations will become the norm—but the human connection will remain the most valuable asset.

Dentists will need more than clinical skills; leadership, communication, and emotional intelligence will define success.

Group practices and corporate models will grow, but independent practices that are purpose-driven, systemised, and well-branded will still thrive.

The next generation must be adaptable, continually learning, and focused on delivering both results and relationships.

It’s not just about teeth anymore—it’s about transforming lives through trust, care, and innovation.

What is your greatest challenge in Private Practice dentistry?

Juggling the roles of clinician, leader, and business owner is no small feat.

The real challenge is learning how to scale without burning out—staying visionary while remaining grounded in day-to-day realities.

It’s a constant balancing act: delivering clinical excellence, building a high-performing team, and creating systems that support sustainable growth.

And all of it has to happen without losing the human touch that makes dentistry so meaningful—for both patients and the people behind the scenes.

What’s your passion outside of Dentistry?

My biggest passion outside of clinical dentistry is coaching and mentoring. I’ve been fortunate to work with hundreds of dentists and practice owners over the years, helping them build not just profitable practices—but purposeful ones.

For me, there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing someone have a breakthrough moment, take inspired action, and completely transform the way they lead, communicate, and grow.

It’s not just about the business strategies (though I love those too)—it’s about helping people shift their mindset, gain clarity on their vision, and step into their full potential.

Dentistry can be an isolating profession at times, and I truly believe that when we’re supported, guided, and challenged in the right way, we thrive—not just as clinicians, but as leaders, entrepreneurs, and human beings.

Outside of that, I’m a lifelong student. I’m always diving into personal development, psychology, and high-performance training—anything that fuels growth and helps me bring more value to those I serve.

And of course, quality time with family is non-negotiable. That’s my grounding force, my joy, and my why.

The journey in dentistry isn’t just about clinical mastery—it’s about becoming a visionary leader, building a thriving team culture, and creating a practice that delivers impact and fulfilment.  For me, growth is not a destination—it’s a way of life. Whether through SmileConcepts or the work I do mentoring other dentists, I remain committed to raising the standard of what’s possible in our profession. If you’re a dentist who knows there’s more in you—more to build, more to lead, more to give—then don’t wait for the perfect moment. Create it.
